Ahead of Pixel 3 launch, Google apparently requesting YouTube clips which trash its design team

It is now officially known that Google has planned an event on October 9th in New York City to launch the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones. The company is now gathering clips from YouTubers talking about the devices. However, some of the clips in question are specifically the ones that trash the company’s design team.

Front Page Tech has reported that Google has sent out an email asking for permission to use a specific clip from one of the channel’s videos. Though it is not known which clip it is, or what exactly this clip is all about,  it is for sure that this channel hasn’t been much favorable to the various Pixel 3 XL leaks.

Front Page Tech has further claimed in the video that several other channels with huge following, have posted similarly unfavorable videos about Google’s upcoming phones.  They were also contacted by Google to use clips from their videos as well. One can say after having a look at the video that the narrative simply mocks Google’s design of the Pixel 3 XL.

Google in one case had apparently asked to use a clip where the host of the video in question said that the company should fire their design team as Pixel 3 XL looks so terrible.

So the question is, why would Google be putting all of these negative clips together? Well, most likely Google is putting together a video full of self-deprecating humor.

These montages are nothing new for a Google event after all. If you remember, even last year when Pixel 2 was launched, it saw a montage of news outlets, YouTubers, talking about the original Google Home and Pixel.

It should be noted that Google’s Pixel lineup has already faced a fair bit of criticism.  It may face a bit more with the Pixel 3 XL. The main reason for this is, the vocal fans are complaining about the notch. Generally, normal people do not even care about this. Most people in fact don’t even notice that it’s a thing. It seems that Google is leaning into the fact that people do not like the notch and is just putting out a video to relate to others that see the criticism as something silly.

Whatever, Google is doing, it must have thought a lot about it. It certainly would make the event and the product launch more interesting. The new devices from the company have been much awaited by tech lovers and the event would be exciting.
